And it Begins...

We arrived yesterday in Cancun for Morgan and Olly's wedding. We left around 9 a.m. and arrived about noon. We ended up waiting for nearly an hour for our luggage. Then another 15 minutes for our transfer to the Dreams Riviera Resort. We all upgraded to the premium package which gave us preferred check-in. Still, by the time we finished with everything (our room wasn't ready yet) and dropped our carry-on at Steph and Nicky's room, it was almost 4:30. Butch said it best, "No matter where you go, the first day is all about the travel.

We immediately went to get food since we hadn't had anything since breakfast. We went to the ocean-side restaurant and had some delicious seafood. Of course, that meant we would not be having dinner!

We met up with everyone, had drinks, and laughs, settled into our amazing room with a gorgeous view overlooking the ocean, had more drinks with the gang, and went to a light show at 8:30 p.m. It was supposed to be a fire show, but since it was raining, they moved it inside to a light show. That was okay, but mostly juggling and hula hooping with neon-lighted instruments.

After that, we were done!

Morgan and Olly presented each of us with a "goody" bag.

They thought of everything: beach towel chair clips, hand sanitizer, water bottle, bandana, energizer drink, Advil, make-up remover wipes, sunscreen, tiny lip balm, a pin that says "Teston Wedding", sunglasses, a facial mask, fan and welcome letter with the itinerary for the week.

The guys were the same minus the girly things.

Getting all of this stuff to Mexico was a trick for Stephanie and Nicky. They borrowed suitcases from us. They had 5 suitcases and an oversized duffel (as Steph said, a body could fit in it). With their carry-ons, it was a lot. Luckily we were with them! Actually, all of this stuff is what further delated us. That duffel was the very last thing off the plane and it didn't arrive until it had been thoroughly searched. Then as we went through customs, they had a further delay as it was opened and gone through again--every single thing. They also went through the rest of their luggage. I was a little puzzled because aren't drugs coming FROM Mexico? Who would bring them IN!

Steph was mad because she had carefully packed everything. Once it was rifled through, not only was it a mess, but some of the fragile things were no longer protected. Ended up, she had to pay a $57 tax. She wasn't happy because the only reason she didn't ship it all was she thought the costs would be too prohibitive. Oh well, everything arrived unbroken. The only thing we lost was time---and you can't put a dollar amount on that!!!

On to the fun...
