2021 Wrap Up

Well, I'm quite late to the party this year. But here's a recap for you:

Movies
I have Regal Unlimited along with Connie and Nancy. We try to go to one or two movies a week.  The cost is $22.95 a month, so we just need to go twice a month to pay for itself. Still, this year, from June (it didn't start up again until June) to December, I saw 25 movies. That's basically 11 free movies. Good thing because some of them weren't worth paying for.

Here's my list of movies to skip--even when they come out on Netflix:
The Green Night
Cry Macho
The Addams Family 2
Spencer
Licorice Pizza

Movies not to be missed:

In the Heights

Cruella (so good I saw it twice)

Respect

The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife

Dear Evan Hanson

Free Guy

King Richard

House of Gucci

West Side Story

Books

I only read 39 books this year. That's pretty low for me as I consider I read a book about every 5 days. But, when you consider all the traveling and walking I've done, that definitely takes away from reading time. If I did the math, my reading would still average about a book every 5 days when I'm not traveling.  I don't count books on tape--I only do those a couple times a year when I have long drives by myself. Somehow, it's just not the same to me as actually reading.

I saved a ton of money this year by getting my books at the library. "How much?" you ask. $309.49. I read many books that I have purchased in years past but just never got to. Also, I had to buy most of our book club books. Since everyone has discovered electronic books from the library, I end up waiting several months for books I want. I'm lucky if I can get any books for book club anymore.

Best Books (in my opinion--5 star books--people always ask me for book recs)

Baby Teeth

A Good Marriage

The Midnight Library

The Last Thing He Told Me

The Final Days of John Lennon

The Girl With No Name

The Wife Upstairs

The Good Sister

The Book of Lost Names

The Rose Code

The Less People Know About Us

Music

We subscribe to Spotify. As a result, they send me a list of my most played each year. This year, it went like this:

There were lots of old classic rock, Motown, showtimes and country. I listened to a lot of:

Chris Stapleton

Lady Gaga's Shallow soundtrack

Taylor Swift

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Out of Africa soundtrack

Classical and piano---great for reading to

Rolling Stones

Fitbit

Most steps in one day: 23,166 for the most miles in one day--9.1 miles (this was at Disney)

Exceeded 10,000 steps in a day---175 days this year

Exceeded 12,000 steps in a day---17 days this year

Exceeded 15,000 steps in a day---28 times this year

Exceeded 20,000 steps in a day---6 times this year

I'm happy with that. All the more reason to travel!! We love to just walk everywhere! In fact, when we were just in New York, we only took one Uber---and that was because it was raining. We walked all over the city for a total of 16 miles in 2 1/2 days. My Fitbit totally motivates me to walk more, park further away and to just get up and move!

Trips

Okay, so I'm going to talk about all the trips we've taken this year. We're trying to make up for lost time. I'm counting the beach and trips to Sandy's because, after all, they are out-of-town too!

Beach trips--8

Sandy's (Atlanta)--6

Scrapbooking--3

Albuquerque/Grand Canyon

Sister's trip--to the beach

South Dakota

St. Louis--more than two weeks!

France River Cruise

Salem, MO

Helen, GA

Girls trip to the beach

Butch to Morrocco with his friends

Kentucky Lake

Disney

New York

That's a lot of trips!! Every single one was fun! We fell a little short of our projected one trip a month to the beach. Actually there were two more for me with my sisters and friends. Our first trip to the beach this year won't be until the first part of March due to our 4 upcoming trips in January and February. If I thought last year was a pretty heavy traveling year, this year is even more! Gotta' keep movin' while we can!!

At some point, I'm going to share some of my favorite blogs and podcasts. I definitely have a lot of activities that take up my time!! I wouldn't have it any other way!

  1. Wow just look at all those trips! I've realised that you've got to make the most of the opportunities to do things because you never know when something will happen and you won't be able to go.
20,000 steps in a day? SIX times! I feel very ashamed ...!
