Brown-Eyed Girl

This is my favorite picture of Jordan. She's such a beautiful girl and growing up way too fast! I wish I could keep her little for just a little while longer.

I've had the idea for this page for a long time and finally finished it in the Poconos a couple weeks ago. I was using the "Bling" kit from my Not Your Ordinary Book Club. Love that club!

It's Official: Mindy is an adult!

It all started when my friend, Joanie Manogue, sent Mindy her first Recipe Chain Letter. She was very flattered to be included in the adult world. Little does she know that these types of things can become a nuisance. Next, I was unable to cancel Mindy's Tuition Pay account. Seems although we pay the bills, since the account is in her name, we have no rights. She had to call today to take care of it (that's not all bad that she has to handle some things). But then, to remind me that just maybe she's not completely grown up yet, she called this afternoon to tell me that she wasn't feeling well. Seems like when she's sick, she becomes a child again! I just wish I could be there to baby her. I love you, baby girl!!!

Unbelievably Amazing...

that's all I can say about Troy Williams. The guy's a genius! From his house in Franklin, he was able to take control of my mouse and fix all of my problems while I watched in utter amazement! How does he do that?

After Steph's hard drive crashed summer 2005, Troy got us both back-up drives for our computers. I thought that I was protecting my data from a hard drive crash. Little did I know that Troy was protecting me from myself! Thanks, guy!

Ahhh, all is right in my world!

Disaster

I am sick to my stomach. I can't believe I have caused this disaster! In my effort to keep my desktop clean, I've always just had two or three folders. Well, I think I have somehow deleted my main folder that literally contains EVERYTHING important to me: family business, financial, classes, you name it, that's where it was. I'm praying that Troy (my computer guru) can help me. I'm trying to take a deep breath. The only thing keeping me from going insane is that I have an external hard drive that backs everything up at 2 a.m. I'm so hoping that my file is there and can be retrieved. We're talking my LIFE here! I never thought being organized could cause me so much trouble!

Isn't this just about the cutest picture?

6th Grade Math

Jordan came home today with two notes from her math teacher. They stated that she was to have help with her math homework. Well, I never did homework with my kids and there's a reason for that! I've already done all my homework and I don't want to go back there! Jordan put up a fuss, so I thought I'd at least give it a try. Somewhere along the line, math turned into a foreign language. One of her first questions was: Write 1/11 as a decimal with a bar over the repetend. What the heck is a repetend? There was never such a word when I took math and certainly not in the 6th grade!! I guess it turned out okay though. In trying to explain it all to me, Jordan actually solved the problems herself. Who says I'm not a teacher?? My language skills were always my strongest. Math---forget it!!

On a side note, I'm pretty sick of loading and unloading my dishwasher---every day---twice!

Why I Blog

I decided to start blogging again because it's an easy way to keep up with the everyday "stuff" that goes on in our lives. When I was a little girl, I had diary after diary. I would keep up with them for a bit, but ultimately quit. Now, I spend a lot of time in the evenings on my laptop. I do journaling for my scrapbooking, look at things on the internet, check other people's blogs and answer my emails. Occasionally I'll play a game or two while watching t.v. By adding blogging, I will have plenty of fodder to refer to for journaling in my scrapbooks---or for page ideas.

Here's a perfect example:
This week, I've had the little girls while Steph has been out-of-town on business. The week has gone very smoothly even though Jordan was home sick on Monday and Tuesday. But, I'm not used to all this cooking, picking up around the house, hair fixing, t.v. playing, and chattering after 7:00. Butch and I have a nice quiet life these days. I'm used to just chillig out in front of the t.v. with my laptop after supper in my jammies. Last night I got a little cranky with the girls as they kept talking to me (God forbid) and asking questions. We were watching American Idol---which is what they watch---so we've sacrificed the t.v. this week too. This morning, it's up extra early to get the crock pot going for dinner, breakfast, lunches, straighten the house, hair fixing, shower and out the door by 7:45 for me. I missed my treadmill session. Got up at 5:30 thinking there would be enough time. I think I'm going to have to get more organized!!

Return to Blogging!

Well, it's been nearly a year since I made a blog entry. This past weekend in the Poconos, I was discussing blogs with my niece, Bridget and my daughter, Sandy. We were talking about how much we enjoyed reading blogs and agreed to start our over again. So, here goes!

I just got back from a fabulous weekend in the Poconos---although I can't really say I actually saw the mountains! When we go to scrapbook, we are on a mission.

Getting there was a trick. This resort (Split Rock) is at least 40 years old. Everyone seemed to know exactly where it was---except---our driver! I had hired a private service to pick Bridget and I up on Wednesday. He was a half hour late which already made me mad---since we had to pay in advance including the gratuity. When he finally arrived, he had a stretch limo. All of our luggage would not fit in the trunk, so Bridget and I had to schlep our bags in the back with us. Our first stop was the gas station---yep, the driver had to get gas. We had dinner reservations with friends at 6:00 p.m. (all paid for) and now it was nearing 5:30. We were told the resort was only half an hour away, so we weren't really worried. To make a very long story short, it took us 2 hours to get there. The driver went 45 minutes in the wrong direction and included a stop at a market to ask directions!

After that I was nervous about Sandy's arrival on Friday. The same service was to get her to the resort. I called to make sure all would go smoothly. When Sandy got there, she told us about her driver and his whole life story. Come to find out---she got in the front seat with him!!! We totally lost it over that. She said she didn't know what to do. She hates traveling alone.

Picture from our Weekend

Thought you might like to see a picture from our weekend. This is a redneck snack table.
