Me on Monday---on Thursday

This story is just too good to hold until Monday. Here it goes.

So. Yesterday, Connie, Nancy and I were meeting at the theater to see the movie Argyle (side note: very good. I want to see it again!). We were meeting at noon. I decided to smuggle my lunch in. 

We sat down and I had finished my lunch before the movie started. Now this might seem insignificant, but just hold on. You'll see where it comes in to play. 

So. We're watching the movie. We are the only people in the theater. About halfway through, a "guy" comes in. My first thought was that it was the janitor who cleans after each movie. But then I noticed he had a uniform and a badge. I thought it was the security guard. It flashed in my mind that he somehow knew I had smuggled in my lunch! That wasn't it.

He said, "Excuse me ladies, I'm looking for Barbara Eads." I raised my hand, "That's me!" Then I thought there was some sort of emergency with Butch. He then said, "You left your car running in the garage. I called your husband and he said you were here." 

I jumped up and took off with the cop. By then I realized it was a cop. I asked if he worked for the theater because, you might recall that they have guards and cars with lights on inside the garage. He said "no" and introduced himself to me and said he was a metro police officer. Mall security called the police and he responded. I asked him how he tracked me down. He said that he called my husband---which means he had to run the plates. Butch said I was at the theater. The police officer said that he asked for me at the theater and was told that there were 10 movies playing, but they didn't know which one I was in. He showed me the paper where he had written down the theaters. So he just started with #1. Well luck would have it that we were in #1. Honestly, I'm pretty sure most of the other 9 were completely empty.

As we're walking out and the cop was staying with me, I start to think about a car left running and unattended could be an arrestable offense due to bombs and stuff. So, I asked him if I was in trouble and was he going to arrest me. He said, "No m'am. I just want to walk you to your car and make sure everything is okay." I apologized and said, "I am so sorry. I can't believe I did this. I guess I have to blame it on the fact that I'm getting old!" 

I thanked him and wished him a good rest of the day. I got back to the theater where Connie and Nancy were still laughing. I'm pretty sure they were laughing the whole time. I quickly explained to them the whole story. Then I noticed there were 11 texts on my phone! Of course I turned my phone off in the theater. And yet, I did hear the vibration, but I ignored it---not even realizing there were so many. 

Then another one came in, so I looked at it. Here is the entire exchange:

Alls well that ends well. I like to think that if there was a possibility that I would be arrested, that I might have been able to charm the officer out of it. I guess we'll never know! 

You might wonder how it went with Butch when I got home. When I walked in he said, "So, do you need gas now?" Then I reminded him that he did the same thing 40 years ago when we were at Churchill Downs. It happens!

You might wonder how ti could have happened. I'm thinking it's my nails as it's happened before, but that time I realized as I was getting out of the car that it was still running. I have that push button start thing. I'm thinking I just didn't push it in all the way and didn't realize it. Yeah, that's it. 

All I do know is that today I cost the taxpayers of Nashville some money! 

Travel Tuesday

This is only travel related in that I snapped these pictures in the airport.

I have no idea what type of dog this is. But, it is the most unusual type I'ver ever seen. It must be some sort of exotic breed due to all the jewelry he/she's wearing. Notice the jewel between its eyes? I wonder how that's attached. And then this:

Not only is the dog exotic, it must be pretty smart too. I have no idea what it's watching, but he/she sure looks interested. Not so sure about the owner.

I was sitting this close. I was so tempted to reach out and touch it---it looks so soft. Oh, and I didn't notice an odor. 

Question:  When you have a dog this big, do you have to buy it a seat?

Me on Monday

This post is sort of a continuation of yesterday. Nicky sent me these pictures after my post so I wanted to include them.

The food was beautifully presented and so delicious.

Normally at these types of things, the food is nothing special. This cake was sooo good. I thought it would be dry from sitting out so long, but it wasn't. Very moist.

I don't think I've ever been to an event where they had two desserts. Butch and I shared both. At big events like this you can always expect there to be mousse of some sort. In fact, I'm so tired of it that I don't really like it anymore. But this, was a blueberry mousse and so tasty.

Even though I didn't get any pictures of Sandy and Greg, or Stephanie and Nicky together, I was really happy that Nicky got this shot of Butch and me.

And then of Connie and me too. We don't thing to take pictures very often.

Okay, on to this week. Another busy one. 

Something for Sunday

Last weekend, our friends David and Linda were honored by Father Ryan High School for their commitment and dedication to Catholic education. We decided to put a table together with our friends, Jack and Connie--without whom, we would never have met David and Linda. They all went to college together.

We wanted to include all of our girls and our sons-in-law since they went to Father Ryan. The party was at The Music City Center downtown.

These girls were as "thick as thieves" back in the day, It was so much fun seeing them reminisce and having so much fun together--just like old times. We need to get them together more often. It's rare that they are in town at the same time. 

Unfortunately, we did not get any pictures of the guys.

The food was delicious and the presentation was incredible. 

The salad was beautiful as was the dessert--so good too!

We didn't bid on anything because you had to download the app and then enter all your information. I just didn't want to bother with all of that. Plus, I am a terrible impulse buyer---especially when it comes to charitable events. 

We had such a nice evening. We're sort of "over" these types of events. But seeing the girls have so much fun made it worthwhile. Even Butch mentioned that on the way home. 

Oh, and by the, my feet were killing me! Two hours of cocktail hour standing and a quarter mile walk to the car took its toll! I was happy to get those fancy shoes off!

January seems like it flew by in a flash. Having a week long cruise definitely added to my leisure time.

The nominations for the Academy Awards are out. It's always unbelievable to me that I haven't even heard of half of them---and my friends and I go to the movies all the time. We'd like to see all the ones nominated, but they haven't even been shown in Nashville.

*Inventing Anna--series--true story

*I can only imagine--movie based on a true story--played like a Hallmark movie, but the fact that it was a true story made it good.

*Trapped--thriller--very good--Kevin Bacon--I love him, but wasn't thrilled that he played a bad guy. Plus I also love Charlize Theron

*Creedence Clearwater Revival--documentary

*Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey--documentary
