Travel Tuesday

We left last Tuesday for an adventure before meeting up with Walter and Chris. We knew we had an 8 hour drive to get to the Ozarks in Missouri. We didn't want to make that drive on Thursday for just 2 days and then make the 8 hour drive back on Sunday. Soooo, Butch planned it all out and we had a great time!

We drove to Vincennes, Indiana and spent the night. On Wednesday morning, we went to the George Rogers Clark (brother of William Clark of Lewis and Clark) Memorial (which got us another stamp in our Parks Passport book), The Old Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis Xacier, Grouseland---home of William Henry Harrison (died in office after just 31 days---father of Benjamin Harris) and the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy.

We left Vncennes and stopped at Casey, Illinois to see a "big stuff in a small town!"

My pictures are messed up and out of order, but I'll do the best I can.
 George Rogers Clark memorial.

The bridge over the Wabash River next to the memorial.
 The Basilica.
This was a memorial in front of the courthouse. I just love old towns.

We had lunch here at the world's largest windchimes.

Butch pulled the cord to ring the chimes. We continued on down the street to see all the "big" things.

After stopping here, we went on to St. Louis. We spent the night with Walter and Chris. On Thursday morning, we did the segment of Route 66 to Springfield on our way to Big Cedar Lodge. But that's a post for another day!!
