About My Fonts

Okay, I admit, I'm a font junkie. Not just any old font junkie, but a FREE font junkie!

Last night, Butch asked me what I had done all day (FYI that question has never bothered me because I accomplish a lot in my days!). My plan was to scrapbook in the morning, stitch and read in the afternoon. Before I get to the fonts, let me complain about my printer. I've used it hundreds of times. It's about 6 months old, so not that old. I wanted to do some scrapbooking. I was already working on a "round robin" layout for Karolyn. All I had left to do was to add the title and journaling. I already had the page laid out. OMGosh, the printer wouldn't print! I turned it off and turned it back on again--a couple times. I unplugged it. I checked the settings on my computer. I restarted my computer. I shut down Pages and re-opened that. I paused and restarted the printer several times. I got messages like "printer not connected"--"ink is low"--"printer is not responding"--you get the picture. I was about to delete the printer from my computer and re-install it, but suddenly it started working again. What the f***?!!  I just want to know why that happens whenever I'm trying to do something special for my scrapbooking. I was layering text boxes and wrapping print around a picture. It's so darn frustrating. As I told Butch, I spent 3 hours doing what should have taken an hour!

Okay, now that I'm done with that rant, back to my fonts. You might recall that in my accomplishments post, I mentioned downloading new fonts and reorganizing all of them. Well, I discovered another font website. It's called "Fontspace". Click on that and see what I saw when I went there. Eureka!! 68,000 FREE fonts! Manna from heaven! I was downright dizzy with the possibilities  I went down the "rabbit hole" for at least an hour until I tore myself away! That wasn't part of my plan for the day. Still, I added dozens of new fonts to my collection. In fact, I'm going back there today.

So, Butch asked me why I needed so many fonts. I showed him a sampling of why. Here's the title I did with 3 different fonts. I had to take a picture because Blogger doesn't allow any other fonts than the 7 they offer. If you notice I do change up the fonts here with those limited 7!

I was happy with how it came out.
Ordinarily, I would never use 3 different fonts on a layout. I think it looks too confusing. But on a title, I think it works just fine. Now after looking at this, I've decided to go back and add some glitter glue or crystal effects to the "snow".

Now you are probably wondering why I keep going on and on about fonts. Well, today, I just realized, I am a font SNOB!!! I love my fonts. While I was out walking at 5:45 a.m. and listening to a podcast, there was a mention of the font--American Typewriter. Immediately, that font popped in to my head! I love that!! And, I love that font! I use it a lot on my scrapbooking. A lot.

Heck, now that I think about it, I probably only use about 10 of my hundreds of fonts on a regular basis. So what!! They're free! And I just might want to use them some day! At least I know exactly where to find them---in my organized and alphabetized folders!!

Now if I can just keep my printer cooperating.

  1. Perfect excuse to shake up the fonts - that's such a fun title, for a not quite so much fun story of how you spent your last skiing holiday! Ouch!
