Well, it’s been a week! It was hot in Florida. You know, that kind of cloying hot that takes your breath away and just makes you want to get back in the air conditioning. But luckily, there was a nice breeze on the beach—except for our last day. Then it was just plain hot! I was sweating in the shade—my eyes burning. Okay, enough of the weather situation. I know it wasn’t much better in Nashville with nearly 100 degrees. It's summer, for crying out loud! It's supposed to be hot!
We had such a good time with Mindy. It made me realize that I want to do it with Sandy and Stephanie too—each one by themselves. We don’t get one on one time with them. As we were “spoiling” Mindy—Butch and I both said that it was an “all expense paid” vacation for her—as we continued to work to make sure she had that vacation! We let her make all the plans and set the schedule. Remember, we are planners and NOT floaters! We always want to know what the day is going to bring. That’s not to say that we don’t change it as we go along—we definitely do that.
Mindy posted something on Facebook every day. I’m going to let her posts take it from here:
Day 1:
“I may get disinvited from my parent’s beach trip (even though I’m already here), because “someone” lost the car keys…
Day 2:
“There are a lot of laptops and pensive thoughts, apparently!”
Day 3:
“I woke up and my parents are nowhere to be found. But I see they left me some melon in case I wasn’t able to scavenge for myself (which I appreciate). Peep my dad’s phone which is noticeably not wit him…he could be kidnapped by dogs or he could just be out on a walk..who knows?”
“I have found Dad. In related news, I’ve been instructed, under no uncertain circumstances, to not touch the AC controls in the car!”
Day 4:
I want my parents to know that the years of education they paid for didn’t go to waste and I do, in fact, own a book…I mean sure, it’s a book written by an early 2000’s rapper, but they were impressed I had a book nonetheless!”
I'm sure Mindy has left this vacation thinking her parents are getting old! Not true! We're just set in our ways! Plus, she can't say anything since she was the one going to bed at 7:30 or 8 each night! Hmmm, maybe she needed a break from us! Nah, I'm sure that's not it. We're fun. Aren't we? I think so anyway!
That sounds very hot! Thank goodness you had air con, and I'm sure Mindy appreciated being given temporary control over the thermostat ;-)
