We made a brief stop to see the Vulcan iron statue. Birmingham’s contribution to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. Better known as the St. Louis Worlds Fair.
This was the spectacular view. We were pretty lucky since it was gray and drizzly. At least it wasn't foggy and cloudy.
While we were at the beach, we watched a couple spectacular sunsets.
This was my most favorite view of all. I couldn't believe how well those sun rays showed up---and even photographed so well.
One morning, I was up at 5 a.m. It was still dark. Then, as the sky started to lighten---around 6, I woke Butch to come and watch the sunrise, I was thinking about how we don't see many sunrises and sunsets unless we're at the beach. Then, I realized why. #1. We don't take the time and #2. There is usually something---houses or woods to obstruct the view. Not so at the beach.
But then, I guess there are still some obstacles there!
This was just a bit after sunrise. The sky was so pretty.
The weekend was a lot of fun, but really was a work weekend for Butch. All I did was a little extra cleaning of some of the decorations. Our cleaning people are doing a really good job. Butch has a check list of things he does at both condos when he goes to the beach. That kept him pretty busy.
We were there for a homeowner's meeting. We couldn't believe all the trucks and campers there. So many people have come for the recovery effort. Our places escaped without much damage. The Emerald Beach Resort had some roof damage but that was it. Gulf Place only had debris from the high winds. Both places were without electricity and water for about a week. But, all was back to normal by the time we got there.
We decided to come home on Saturday night so we could have all day Sunday at home. It was a nice day in front of the fireplace watching the Titans beat the Patriots!
There is nothing quite like a sun rise or sun set over an ocean is there? Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sunrise over the ocean, yours looks warmer than when I was in Mallorca!
