Travel Tuesday

We went to Atlanta for the weekend. Butch and I went on Thursday. Stephanie, Nicky, Mindy, Justin and Victoria arrived on Friday. Besides Sandy and Greg, Elizabeth had her boyfriend, Graham there. We had a full house!

Okay, so my pictures are out of order and will not cooperate today. So here goes.

Greg started the "Traeger" on Friday afternoon and monitored it all night long. We were planning to eat around 12:30. I was joking with Greg that basically, it was a crock pot! He didn't think that was funny! But seriously, it cooks that slowly! It's supposed to cook slowly so that the meat is infused with the smoke and is tender.
The meat was amazing--so delicious and tender. Worth the wait.

The first thing we did was put our money in for the football pools.
Everyone puts in $5.00 and gets 9 squares. Justin ended up being the big winner for the weekend. He won $45.00. I won $25.00.

This was our first time meeting Graham. He told me that he's in to fashion--buying and re-selling online.
He had on this shirt that matched his shoes. I thought he looked awesome! They are so cute! He was definitely having fun because he stayed until 2 a.m. the first night and then came back the next day. Now, Butch and I did not stay up until 2 a.m., but the rest of the gang did. They were doing karaoke. It was non-stop games. This family loves to play!

Of course, Sandy always has plenty of activities planned. We started with these:
We made wine charms--and then used them.

Next up was a contest: a prize for whoever could make their mini Lego animal the fastest.
It was really hard because the pieces were so tiny. Butch ended up winning. Sandy and I both broke nails!

Next up was lunch. You've already seen the brisket--above.
The sides were: corn pudding, twice baked potato casserole, baked beans, green beans, spinach casserole and corn muffins. All the food was fabulous. I had brought a "hallelujah" cake from Dessert Designs.

And, Sandy doesn't do anything without party favors!
The Cokes were some sort of special--skittle flavored. We haven't drunk them yet. There is also the special party mix. In the background is Butch's prize for winning the Lego contest. It's a puzzle and the colorful tower thing is chocolate covered Oreos. So much fun.

We played so many games. So. Many. Games. We are a game loving family. I grew up that way and then we raised our girls that way. Games all the time!

It was such a fun weekend---just all being together. When we go to Sandy's, it really feels like a vacation for me! She and greg are great hosts. But, when it's over, it's over! Butch and I were on the road home by 4:15 a.m. We wanted to beat the traffic--which from or to Atlanta is terrible. It's Chattagooga that's the problem. Obviously, getting through there by 5:30 is the key!

When we got home, it's on to the next thing. I'm heading out for our scrapbook retreat at Kentucky Lake on Wednesday. So I did a little cooking and started to get my stuff together. Laundry, mail, a couple of organizational things, Butch off to the grocery store and another big job I'll tell you about later. It's always something unexpected to mess with your time!

It was a great weekend, but now it's on to the rest of the week.

  1. Sounds like a great time. I think it is so interesting that the younger generation is really into used clothing, thrifting and reselling online. Or even buying luxury items second hand online. I have two nieces who love it. I especially like when they pick up tops or jean scheap and add some embroidery to them to make them one of a kind.
