This is one of those recipes that popped up on Facebook. I decided to give it a try. While I was at it, I made two smaller ones for Stephanie & Nicky and Mindy & Justin.
Oreo Dessert
1 Family size pack of regular Oreos
1-8 oz. container of Cool Whip (thawed)
1 qt. fresh strawberries
1 cup milk
Dip each cookie in milk and layer in a 9x13 dish. Spread half the Cool Whip over the cookies. Dip more cookies in milk and make a second layer ending with Cool Whip. Top with sliced strawberries. Refrigerate for at least an hour. Note: It was still good the next day. After that I don't know because it was gone!
And now for the life hack:
You'll need a sturdy straw.
After washing your strawberries, place the straw at the bottom of the strawberry and push.
The top will pop right off.
Butch helped with this. I've used this tip a few times and it always works---even if the berries are softer. You can go one step further with strawberries and use an egg slicer to cut them. I've done that before, but didn't bother with it this time. I lucked out---the strawberries were very sweet and delicious!
Enjoy!! And you're welcome!
Well, it was only this week that I learned what a "life hack" was, and I guess that was just in time. I like your tip, and will definitely try that. I have used an egg slicer on strawberries, but just once, I don't recall who I was trying to impress with my precision. Strawberries are a fave of the husband, so they don't last long around here.
ReplyDeleteLove the straw and egg slicer tips!! Thanks for sharing them...and the dessert. Yum!
