Travel Tuesday

We've been in Sanoma/Napa since last Wednesday and have done a little of everything.
We went to this part to see the giant redwoods. We've been to Muir Woods before, but decided on this place because there was hardly anyone there. Muir Woods is always so crowded. It's a beautiful park with great trails.
Our first winery stop was Dry Creek. It was so beautiful. There was an insectary garden--and yes, it's exactly like it sounds. The garden is planted to draw the insects that are harmful to the grapes while allowing the good insects to thrive in the vineyard.
We got to sit outside--the weather was perfect. Butch and Bruce went to the little country store to get us charcuterie items since our wine tasting didn't come with any food. This was our lunch. We ended up ordering a case to share.
We started this day in Railroad Square--home of Charles Schulz--creator of Peanuts.
It's a charming little place with Peanuts characters everywhere. This picture was taken in the museum.
We had to stop by the grape crusher statue before our visit to the Frog's Leap Winery for another tasting.
On Sunday, we moved back to San Francisco. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was cold, windy and foggy. Still, it was a bucket list item for me. 3 miles round trip.

After our walk across the bridge, we headed to Haight Ashbury for a photo op. We stopped at a bar and had bloody Mary's--which ended up being much too spicy for me. I opted for a mimosa--actually two!

We had tea at the Love Joy tea room. It was a first for Bruce and Hugh. Butch had been for tea several times with me. What a sport!

Our pattern is breakfast at the hotel--light lunch, happy hour and dinner. Or, breakfast, no lunch and then an early dinner, back to the hotel for happy hour. Pam and I insist on stopping for cookies whenever we see them!!

We're having a great time, but the trip is flying by. When you are reading this, it is our last day. We've planned to do a couple more wineries before we leave tomorrow.

  1. Looks like fun. It was much the same weather when we were in San Fran too.
