Scrapbook Saturday

Just a few layouts from before we went to the beach.
"Emerald Beach" is about our condo in Panama City Beach. We ended up selling it in 2020.
In early October, Karolyn took me on a "Mystery Trip." We road the bus and walked all over. By the end of the day, we had walked 6 miles! It was a fun day--visiting areas of the city I had never been to. Nor had I been on a bus in probably 50 years!
"Spring Break 1993" was the first time we took the girls to New York. Now we go at least every other year--well except this year when we are going twice!

Sandy and Greg are in town this weekend. They brought a U-Haul with furniture for Mitchell's new house. We girls are going to see Bon Jovi in concert tonight. I can't wait!! I love him!

Friday Funnies

This one cracks me up because it's so true! I have 5 decorative pillows on our bed--bigger than just throw pillows!

Five Things Thursday

1. I'm pretty sure this is true!
At least it's true for me. I was meant to set a good example for my younger brothers and sisters, so I did!

2. OMGosh!
I've never been to Minnesota, but I think I'll wait until summer!

3. I've never heard of this before and don't quite understand it.

Everybody attending put their wedding rings on the cake before the wish. What in the world would a 17 year old wish for that the "married" attendants would want for themselves.? This is some sort of custom that I don't really understand.

4. This past weekend was "Camp Mother-in-law!"
Justin wasn't able to go, so Bruce filled in. I'm so happy that the guys had such a good time. It's going to be an annual event!

5. I love this.

Tuesday Thoughts about...

...having my windows cleaned. I realize now that my post about nearly having a nervous breakdown over the window washers walking on our new carpet, came off sounding pretty spoiled and whiney!

One of my blog friends, called me out--without realizing she did it! It's true I have a big house. It's true I have a lot of windows: 12 sets of French doors, 13 regular windows--floor to ceiling, 6 double wide picture windows and 5 regular doors with windows. All of those regular windows and picture windows have storm windows. That's a lot of windows. And yes, I know I'm spoiled and fortunate that we can afford to have someone clean them.

But, there are several ways I like to look at it.
1. We should not be up on ladders.
2. I don't want to be up on ladders.
3. The storm windows are too heavy for us.
4. It would take us a month--at least--to get the job done.
5. I wouldn't even begin to know how to approach this big of a job.
6. It's people like us that keep window washers in business! We had 5 people here working from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I know, first world problems. For sure. My blog friend didn't say anything negative, just that she and her hubby do theirs. That made me stop and realize what a brat I've been. Carpet be d****d! I thank my lucky stars for window washers!

On a positive note, they charged us $400 less than they quoted us because they were able to do most of the storm windows without having to unscrew them from the house. Now that's something to be happy about!

So, I'm officially done whining about it. I'm over it! Thanks Susanne for the reality check!! I needed that!

Prom Time!

Well, it's that time of year! Prom time---that is!
I can't believe that my "baby" granddaughter is all grown up! She's about to head in to senior year.

The family went to Disney World over spring break. She found this purse and that set the theme for their outfits! Have I mentioned that this family LOVES Disney?
Here she is with her boyfriend, Graham. He, too, was in Disney with his family over spring break. Wait for it....
A Cinderella's castle best buckle!!
Isn't this just about the cutest thing? I told Sandy that we need one of them for the guys to pass around in the family. I love it! He was such a good sport, that he even got a gold tie and all the gold jewelry to go with his suit.
While at Disney, they got matching monogram rings. Dig those nails!! You might notice the sapphire and diamond ring she's sporting. That was the center of my 25th anniversary wedding set. We gave it to her for her 8th grade graduation. I love that she loves it!

And now for a "throwback." Elizabeth's mom and dad...
Sandy and Greg were highschool sweethearts.
And here they are today. Still high school sweethearts! You just never know which one will be the one.

Scrapbook Saturday

1. Pam picked the song "Celebration" for AYM this month.
I used our New Year's Eve trip to New York for this one.
I made a double fold out in order to get all of the pictures I wanted to use. I added a glassine envelope to hold the thank you notes from the girls.
I cut the patterned paper in to 3 inch circles. Then I cut those in half. I didn't have a lot of room to incorporate the patterned paper. At least this way, I was able to add some of it.

2. I've had this layout for years from a class I took. It was just waiting for the right pictures.
I think using the photo shoot pictures from Elizabeth and Victoria's matching cars were perfect for it.

3.  "B&B Days" stands for Butch and Barb days.
This represents many of the day trips we took during the lockdown.

4. "Put a Bow on It" is a layout that Karolyn did for me about the Marie Antoinette chair.
It was for our "round robin" exchange we do every month. We trade pictures around and someone else does the layout for you. It's fun to see what people come up with.

5. "Beautiful You" is another layout I did in a class years ago.
These random pictures of Elizabeth were the perfect ones for the page.

Since my scrapbook room is cleaned up, it's been a lot of fun putting some layouts together.

Five Things Thursday

1. Last week, we went to "be on" The Price is Right. The girls are always looking for fun things to do. Morgan was supposed to be with us, but since she recently moved out of state, Stephanie invited her friend, Merrill.
We had a delicious dinner (although very expensive) at the restaurant in the Hermitage Hotel. It's right across the street from the theater, so you can't beat the convenience.
Stephanie treated me to a t-shirt--which I wouldn't have gotten had I known that it wasn't the "real" Price is Right. Some how, I got the mistaken idea that we were there for auditions to actually get on the show. It wasn't like that at all. Basically, it was a random drawing for people to play a mini version of the show. We all agreed that it was kind of "rinky dink." Still we had a good time. Mindy not so much as her tooth pain ramped up. That's the night Butch and I took her to the emergency room.

2. Last Saturday, the gang had signed up for an obstacle course type 5K. Not me. Most likely I wouldn't have been able to do many of the obstacles.
The last obstacle was going through some sort of foam pit.
Butch is still pretty agile and managed to keep up with the "kids." In fact, I heard that he lead the pack!

3. You know you raised 'em right when you get a delivery like this.
Garrett's popcorn is a Chicago icon. You HAVE to stand in the popcorn line when you go.
She included this sweet note. Happy to know she appreciates us!!

4. There's definitely truth to this.

5. Lastly, for my dog lovin' friends. Jack and Connie with their dog on the left and their grand dogs.
Although I think it's a cute picture, that's a little too much dog for me. I can smell them from here!
Granted, I have a keen sense of smell. And not in a good way!!

That's it for this week!

What I Buy Wednesday

On Saturday night, Stephanie, Mindy and I went to the Garth Brooks concert. We started with dinner at Liberty Common downtown.
The food was delicious--I had the onion soup and a grilled chicken sandwich. We shared the BEST carrot cake I've ever had. They actually make it there. I was served with creme fraiche that had a sprinkling of crushed Heath bars on top. The cream cheese frosting was so good too. Next time I go, I'm just getting the onion soup and carrot cake to have all by myself!!

On to the concert.

So here it is---what I bought this week.
Of course, I had to buy a t-shirt. And I picked up one of those clear bags that you have to have these days for any sporting events or any event at the stadium.

It was a fun evening with the girls. Next up, Bon Jovi in about a week and a half. I'm excited because Sandy is coming in for it! A night with all my girls---doesn't happen often enough!!
