A Whirlwind Weekend!

We were very excited to have the Lapps family visiting again! I'll take two trips during summer any time! I owe it all to these two:
Analise and Elizabeth schemed to make another visit this summer happen. I'm so glad they did.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me that we are starting our third generation of Eads/Potter friendships. It all started with:
Connie and I met right after they moved in to the neighborhood in 1987. Her daughters, Amanda and Malinda were the first kids close to Sandy and Stephanie's age. All the other neighborhood kids were little. The girls became instant best friends.
I was hoping for a picture of the 6 of us, but we weren't all together at the same time.

Connie picked Elizabeth up around 8 p.m. on Thursday night. By 11 p.m., Elizabeth had texted Sandy several times saying how much fun she was having---including many exclamation points.  The next day, Connie took them for manicures, pedicures, lunch and shopping. Sandy met them at Amanda's work. They took the girls to the 12th South area to walk around. Amanda then took the girls to Target where she bought them Starbucks and...
 matching outfits!
The wore them for happy hour. We played games all evening. Analise fit right in! With everyone here, that made 16 of us. We have to stick to games for large groups. We played Charades for about 3 hours. Analise wasn't a bit shy. She actually did really well---considering it was her first time with us.
They managed to tumble out of the porch swing while posing for selfies---which required bandaids!
They wanted to go for a night swim. Unless it's still 90 degrees out, it's cold to swim at night! It's warm if you stay in the water, but cold when you get out.
I think they lasted about 20 minutes.

The next morning, we started off with breakfast and jumped right in to Bananagrams. Once you announce a game, there is no shortage of players. We had 7 right off the bat! Then, Analise said that Amanda was picking her up at 11 a.m. We weren't done with her yet! Then I found out the main reason was that Analise had some schoolwork to do. I made both girls sit in the dining room and work. Elizabeth still has some summer reading to do.

I made the work for an hour.
Analise finished her book report. I told her that it was sort of sloppy, but she convinced me that she was going to re-copy it later. I sent the evidence to Amanda, so she said Analise could stay! Yippee!

I'll continue with the family pool party later. I'm just glad that the girls got to spend a lot of time together. I hope this means that Elizabeth will want to spend a lot of time in Nashville in the years to come!

  1. How lovely to see the next generation getting on so well - let's hope that continues for many years to come! I love Bananagrams - such a fun game for a group to play.
