A Few Things

Well, I've been scrapbooking with my girlfriends all week. We had a great time as usual. We all agreed we did NOT want to watch anything about the election, so we didn't. Imagine our "shock" when we got up on Wednesday and learned the results!! I just hope everyone will calm down now. I was pretty happy to be "disconnected" the day after. No wifi at the farm, nor phone for me.

Anyhoo, here after a few things:
When I pack my scrapbooking things for a crop, I don't take much. Everyone else just about packs up everything they own! Personally, I can get by with just the rolling tote and my tool kit. I bring the other tote with tools to share (punches, stencils, paint, and alphabets for the Quickutz cutting system. This week, I did 18 double page spreads and a title page. I had a few class things we did too.
While scrapbooking, we looked out and saw these calves in the front yard.
As soon as I stepped outside to take the picture, they skedaddled back to their mamas. They won't stray far.
While I was gone, Butch was at the beach for a homeowner's meeting.
Beautiful sunrises down there.
Last week, Mindy and Justin were in Disney with his family. His brother and sister-in-law work there. The parentals were down there too. Mindy sent me this picture to show me that she was wearing one of our family t-shirts with her name on it. When we wore these, we had so many people ask us where we got them. Mindy has several pieces of Disney apparel.
She sent me this picture of the "hidden Mickey" that magically appeared when she and Justin put their rings on the nightstand.

From Disney, they went to Puerto Rico for a few days. Their favorite thing was the rainforest hikes they did.
When I got home on Thursday, the girls and I went to Christmas Village. It's a great kick-off to the holiday season. I was able to find a few Christmas gifts. As long as the girls want to go, I'll keep going. I've been going with my friends for 30 years.
We stopped at the SunnyBand booth. I had the girls pose so I could get this picture for my sister, Jeanne. She doesn't understand "fascinators" or "headpieces."
They are just fun and cute. My girls are all about fun and cute! Mindy has modeled for SunnyBands when they have their fashion show in the spring. Stephanie has picked out that blue one for Steeplechase this year. Now she needs to find her dress before she buys it.
When I got home and went through the mail, I had gotten all of these in just 3 days! When you are nearing 65, you get bombarded. What a waste of good trees!
I'm not happy about the current state of affairs in my backyard! This used to be all wooded.

Our property ends about 6 ft. from the fence.
I don't know if these bricks are leftover from the house or whether they plan to put up a fence. As they say, fences make good neighbors--I think. Anyway, if they don't put up a fence, we're going to put a row of hemlocks across the back. It will be expensive, but will provide a nice screen and give us back our "wooded" look. We just wish we'd known the lot was for sale so we could have bought it.
This is the view from that gate. Luckily, when we are floating in the pool, we will not be seeing the big gap in the woods! We do like our privacy.
While we're in the outdoors, I thought I'd share these photos from Jeanne.
This is one huge praying mantis. In this photo, it reminds me of that old horror flick--The Fly. He has the same sort of eyes!

Part 2 coming soon!

  1. I'm glad you had a lovely time scrapbooking.

Christmas Village? That sounds like my kind of place. My sister would love it too..just this week I bought her a mug that says "Team Santa" on it.

  2. You were quite productive, and I do think that taking limited supplies is actually more conducive to finishing projects that taking everything. Kudos to you.

BTW, You were smart to unplug and enjoy your crop time. I have had to unsubscribe from various book blogs and scrap blogs because of bad behavior post-election. I thought it was crazy before, but the aftermath is sheer lunacy. On the plus side, I am finding more time to both read books and scrap being off-screen.

  3. So nice to relax and enjoy some fun with your friends. I would of gone just for the view, that alone would of been a treat for me. Great idea for the fence, you have a beautiful back yard.
    Blessings,

  4. I love scrapbooking with my friends :)
I have learned that I don't get as much done as I think I am going to, so have paired down my supplies.
But 18 pages!!!! I am so impressed.
