Can You Inherit a Problem?

I'd say that Mindy inherited a problem from her dad. Maybe it's more of an obsession rather than a problem. They both definitely share it.They have an obsession with cups. When Mindy moved in to her condo---just 2 1/2 years ago, we really weeded them out. This weekend, she had friends from New Orleans in town. Rachel couldn't stand Mindy's "problem" and decided to tackle it.
She had over 100 cups---mostly plastic, souvenir cups from various activities---and tons from Mardi Gras.
They weeded them out and narrowed them down to this. See the little red solo cups on the top shelf? Here the are in action.

So darn cute.

Now go back to the picture of Mindy's newly straightened cup cabinet. The funny thing I notice here is that the blue and green striped cup on the bottom actually belongs to us. I guess Mindy took it home one time and now it's hers. Believe me, I've never missed it. We have our own cup issues.

Butch will swear that he does not have a problem. And, to his credit, he's the one that will finally say, "We need to get rid of some of these cups." But here's all the proof you need to know that I tell the truth about this.
This cup is what remains of a cheap set of 4 that WE BOUGHT FOR SANDY WHEN SHE WAS IN COLLEGE---24 YEARS AGO!!! He says it's his "gin and tonic" cup---but he has many "gin and tonic" cups---not to be confused with his "manhattan" glasses. He buys those when we travel. He has one from the House of Parliament in London and another from some mountain top in New England. He has another that has a Titan's logo. Wait, maybe that's a "gin and tonic" cup. Heck, I can't keep them straight. You get the idea.
That brings me to his latest addition. This looks like a red solo cup, but actually it is nicer---thicker and insulated with a lid for hot drinks. The reason that I mention this particular cup is that it closely resembles the turquoise blue solo cup with the 30A logo he bought for himself at the beach right after Easter. When we were just there a couple weeks ago, he was beside himself because someone "stole" it. He ranted. He raved. I even thought he might shed a tear! He loved that cup---even if he only used it one time! Our friends and I tried to find him another, but couldn't. Personally, I hate these cups. They can't go in the dishwasher. I don't baby anything. It's just one more thing I have to remember.

Any way you look at it, I'd say that Mindy and Butch definitely have a cup problem. But, hey, who am I to throw stones. I have my own "multiples" problems!! I don't even want to go there!

And I have a confession to make. I just had to buy some of those little red solo cups. I have no idea what I'll do with them, but they are so darn cute! I don't think I have a cup problem. Maybe I do. Just a little cup problem!

  1. I've got a bag of cups to go to the charity shop - cleared out the cupboard here. But it was only one shelf not a whole cupboard.

  2. lol! It's not a bad problem to have. It could be a lot worse lol!!

I am very clumsy so many cups/mugs don't last long here and i'm not a fan of the plastic variety! x
