Tuesday Thoughts About...

...filling out medical forms. Seems like I've been doing a lot of that lately. As you read this, I am having my first cataract surgery. 

I decided to post this under thoughts rather than mystery or frustrations as I have one of each.

This first one is puzzling to me. See if you notice anything unusual:

So, I had to check my weight. I have never seen any choices like this before. This looks more like a baby form. Whatever. I am definitely over 66 lbs.

Now, this next one just makes me MAD! I have no patience for redundancy! In preparation for my surgery, I had 4 forms to fill out.

As I filled them out, I was getting madder and madder. I had to fill out my name 5 times--date-of-birth--3 times--my address 3 times--etc. I was complaining to Butch and could feel my blood pressure rising. Are you kidding me? On the first page, I was filling out the exact same information just inches from the previous information. I was so tempted to just write: "see above" and on the other pages: "see previous page!" In case you think it's a precaution in case they get separated--they were stapled! Ridiculous!

Not only did I have to fill out these forms, but I had to give all of this information over the phone too! Add to that, the forms I filled out when I went in for my preliminary appointment. All the SAME information. 

In this day and age where everyone is worked up because all of our personal information is "out there"--I don't get it. I'm already in the system. Why in the heck do I have to keep filling out forms with the same information? That's just more of my personal information floating around!! And yes, I realized I've posted some of it here--but I've blurred out the important stuff. If someone wants to come burgle us, come on! Just don't mess up my house! A good way to get rid of stuff!

All these forms, I don't understand it and it makes me so mad to be wasting my time! I've been known to slap an address label on things like this. I considered taking it up with the doctor, but decided that maybe that's not such a good idea since he's going to operating on my eyes!!! I'll just suck it up until the next time I go through this and get myself all worked up again!!

Monday Mystery

On a recent EOB from Medicare, I noticed this:

I don't know who tim is, but he must not be very good if he is only allowed a low level of decision making.

Whoever had the moderate level of decision making isn't even named.

Then there's this guy who has a high level of decision making known as a number. I'm guessing this "guy" is a computer.

Seriously though. I'm a relatively intelligent person. What in the heck does all of this jargon mean? It's like a foreign language. I would like to meet the person who writes this stuff. I wonder if they talk like this. If they do, then I would think that they have a high level of decision making. 

It's all a mystery to me!

Something for Sunday
