Travel Tuesday

Well, Butch and I are both off this week. He's in Columbia, South America. He was supposed to go with his brother, but his brother had to cancel for health reasons. Sooo, he's by himself. This is his third trip alone--each time his traveling buddies canceled due to health. Actually now that I say that, Mindy went with him to Guatemala in June. Anyway, it made me feel bad not to go with him, but I have no desire to go to South America. He's been to so many places there that he thinks this is his last trip to that continent.

This trip followed the trip that the teams did on The Amazing Race. We love that show--especially if it takes place somewhere we've been to or are going to. Anyway, he knew this was coming up:

He climbed up 675 steps to reach the top. He told me that he nearly baled about halfway, but knew he'd be disappointed in himself if he did. So, he toughed it out. 

He's super fit, so I wasn't a bit surprised that he did it. Very few people from his group did it. Quite an accomplishment for a 73-year-old. He hikes a lot, so basically, it was just one more hike! I'm glad I wasn't put to the test. I would have done it, but it would have taken me a very long time because I wouldn't quit either!

Now I, on the other hand, am leaving to go scrapbooking with my friends on Wednesday. Staying up late, eating good food, hanging out with my girls, watching shows--now that's my type of trip. We always have a good time!
